My next build will be 5820K, 750ti on Asus X99-A motherboard.

I was wondering if 16GBX4 will be better than 8GB*8?

I will be using this pc heavily on VMware workstation. I'm really confused because some people say more sticks are better, some say the opposite.

I use 8x8gb for my X79. been using 64gb for 3 years now...hmm about to be 4. Anyways, Other than not hitting a super high overclock, It runs just fine.
well the x99 platform is built for Quad channel. 8 sticks would have your system running two quad channels. The only downside is you stress the memory controller so you can't overclock as high (generally).

The plus side is more memory and that is about it. I could go on but...no point in this simple question.

So the best way to optimize my build is running 16GB*4 in one quad channel and leave the other quad channel blank right? I don't want more than 64gb ram, It's kind of a stupid question but I want to make sure that I won't regret later.

Thanks!!!! it's all clear now.

BTW there's literally no 16 GB ram available in my country. How bad is it to use 8*8GB ram instead of 16*4? I don't want to hurt my pc beacause It will be running 24/7 all year.
