First i should mention that i know almost nothing about what's available for computer hardware these days. also: my only real internet access is on an iphone so i can't do the kind of google research i'd like.
Anyways: I want to build a budget gamer and have about $400 to spend.
Parts i already have:
Case (Antec 300 . http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042
mouse/keyboard
OS (win7)
CD drive
Monitor (23in, 1920x1080 res)
wireless card
I need to purchase everything else. I'm thinking i might skimp a bit on the GPU so that when i have more money i can just upgrade that. I want to be able to play most games in at least 1600x1200 and i want it to be a reliable system. Most parts will be ordered online (good experiences with newegg in the past) but i do have a Fry's in the area if a great deal comes up (though it's a PITA to get too). I don't really have the skills (or the desire) to do any overclocking or modding.
Approximate Purchase Date: sometime in the next 2 weeks
Budget Range: $400 all in (not necessarily a strict limit)
System Usage from Most to Least Important: (Gaming, homework, internet browsing, movie watching (lots of netflix streaming)
Are you buying a monitor: No
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com
Location: Portland, OR
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: not likely
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Why Are You Upgrading: spilled water on last computer, fried just about everything.
Any advice would be appreciated. links to sites that have build ideas would also be nice. Please remember that i know almost nothing about current hardware! pretend like you're talking to someone that has never built a computer before. And thank you!
