comes up to about $420, I am a little worried about the hard drive and the motherboard.
Any help is thanked.

AMD have just released FUSION processors with built in graphics . that actually help the processor perform calculations to run programs

In this price range I would look at one of these processors , and I would not use windows as an OS . You can download Ubuntu Linux at zero cost , get all your other application software also free

here is a little better build. better CPU and HDD. I swapped out theWireless Adapter card to a PCI as the MB is doesn't support PCIe x1. the MB you chose is a good one and i used it below. the alternative MB would be ASRock 880GM-LE, its the same price and same quality, but it has a PCIe x1 slot.

My parents don't really like laptops anymore considering they had two go down in the past 3 years.
I like the build you did jerreddredd, I may just use it. Probably can't fit a fusion processor in this budget.

@altay SATA 6G is only a factor if you are using a newer SSD drive that can take advantage of the bandwidth. a standard mechanical HDD SATA 3G or 6G doesn't even use half the bandwidth of the SATA 3G pipeline. This is a budget build, High end SSD's aren't a consideration. and standard second gen SF1200 Sandforce SSD will do just fine on SATA 3gb.

The ASRock MB is probably a better pick, just for the PCIe x1 slot.

jtt283's Suggestion only makes sense if you are going to Overclock the CPU. if this was a budget Gamer system and we were trying to get every ounce of performance out of it his recommendation would be spot on. if you are just going to run stock then stick with the x3 445.

I didn't search for combo deals to lower your cost as I didn't know when you were going to drop the hammer. let us know 48hrs prior and we can see what deals we can scare up and maybe save you a few more $'s

My suggestion to use the 720BE with an aftermarket cooler is only because it is an OEM chip that doesn't come with a cooler. Since it will end up costing the same as the 445, you might give up an extra 5-10 minutes installing the cooler (vs. the simple stock AMD cooler), but you'll gain some performance potential if it's ever needed, and the system will probably be a few db quieter.
