Hey guys, planning on building a rig for photoshop/video editing/etc. and basic web browsing for 625$. On newegg, I spotted this great deal for the RAM I wanted and with it I got a 4830 for 25$. My question is, the PSU I was going to buy is only 400W, but it's a good brand (Corsair) (Here's the link--->http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139008).

I'm planning on adding an OC Q8400 (to ~3.0GHz) and just wanted to double check to make sure everything would work OK.

There's nothing special in this rig, just the normal stuff (except the 4830), so nothing that would draw a lot of power.

W/ a Xigmatek Dark Knight and I'm getting a Antec 300 Case w/ 1 extra blue LED Fan.
Too much?
Thanks guys.

That's all fine. Have you bought the case yet?

You can get a good deal on an Antec EA430 I think with the case. It's a good Seasonic build PSU with a bit more headroom.
newegg is being difficult atm or I would link it.

I am getting the ANtec 300, but is that PSU better than the Corsair for the extra 30W? Should I just get the 450W Corsair (I prefer Corsair, if possible) for an extra 20$? (50W more?)

*Edit I changed the PSU to the 450W Corsair, and it remains in my budget, I think I'll just stick with that. Thanks guys.

Generally, when you can afford it especially, it's best to get about double what you will actually pull. This is complicated by a lot of factors of course. I don't have the figures right off, but I think the system as you describe it won't get much above 200W.

The 450VX is the best PSU of the 3, for sure. It's enough to run a bit more should you want to upgrade later.

Just ordered, and I got the 450VX just to be sure. Turns out LOL that it was a 4350??? That screwed me over, so I found a better Combo deal for ~ the same price w/ an Evga 8600GTS.
Everything else remained the same. Thanks for the help.

yeah, turns out it was a 4:b:3:b:50 So I mixed up the numbering (ATI!!!!!!!) so, I got a 8600GTS instead for the same price, which draws less power than the 4770 and can easily run Photoshop and some video editing crap. Thanks
