Hi all

i cant decide on a GPU. I have a 13600k currently with a 2070 Super which im giving to my son to finish his build off, but i need a new gpu before i can do this.

im stumped really on what to but is the 4080 really worth the extra money. over a 4070ti

i know there is the AMD option but i feel like if im spending 1k on a GPU i want the DLSS and RT etc

when are the new AMD cards due?

the only other option i can think of really is buy a cheaper card for now and sell it when the new cards are out and wait on the new AMD or 50 series cards to come out

it just feels like the mid range GPU market is all over and overpirced, it forces you to go low end or fork out for high end there no good middle ground cards available at a decent price

i get it is better but money to performance is it worth it like 20 fps gain for what extra 400 bucks
that is up to you.
Long term speaking it might be worth it depending on resolution and fps you expect.
Many on Youtube are saying in 2023 all new GPUs should have minimum 16GB of memory.
I disagree, but that is just me.
In 2 or 3 years however,it might become important.
And IF you have some content creation ambitions in something like DaVinchi Resolve, the more VRAM the better,

1099USD

300USD difference is still huge, but it isnt 400 lol

4080 is going down in price abit and yes its worth the money and much better then 4070ti but fps all depends on what specs you have in the computer that why when look at youtube vids wont assume will be getting those fps rates!. 4080 card is huge and power hungry so you need good case and PSU. Check prices between 4070ti and 4080 is it only couple hundred more then go for 4080. That my mistake last year got 4080 and then could got 4090 for couple hundred more but lucky for me amazon accepted return because it caursed issues like black screen and such.

Do some research on prices check other stores and websites

I have 13600k 850w gigabyte gold psu. 32gb Corsair Ram. And Asus TUF z670 MB. I have a lian li case with plenty of space so a big card isn't an issue

Yeh I'm on the side of spending the extra on a 4080 seems like the extra v ram and grunt just will last the rest of time longer than a 4070ti.

300 is lowest I found

not very long a few months, i was ging to go for a higher wattage PSU but it should be well within the power limit of a 13600k and a 4080

parts picker puts the system at around 600w with everything on there

and yes z690 i mean
Which model exactly?
PSU I mean

Well, according to Tomshardware review, that is a very good PSU.
You are probably good on that account.
Even with 4080.
IF however you will overclock all of your components that can be overclocked, it might go to 700W or so.
At which points, someone more knowledgeable would need to say their opinion.

yeh i dont really overclock to much, i have underclocked my cpu as it seems to be the thing to do with 13th gen but if i do OC it will be very minor

I do think if your going to get 4080 then do not underclock your cpu and try and inprove your computer instead off lowering it. Underclocking CPU is not going to be a big diffrence in power and just use the boost speed
I probably should of said undervolted not underclocked

Its not underclocked it's just running lower voltage but still OC on the clock speeds

13th Gen are fine with that helps thermals and power usage without effecting performance deffo worth a look if u have one

?
Why would it be a thing to do?
It sounds more like another PC "Master Race" eccentricity.

Under volting is commen on 13th gen CPUs as they run hot and use a lot of wattage by under volting you reduce heat and power and still get the same performance

Look it up on YouTube there loads of info about it and benefits
