Hi All,

Hoping anyone can help as I am at a loose end with my first PC Build.

Please see below specs/build. After installing windows 11, enabling RAM in bios and updating drivers. The PC at random times could be 10mins or an hour will just restart with no error messages. It also restarts when allowing certain "apps to make changes to the Hard drive" for example when launching a game from steam and the pop up about allowing steam to make changes, I click yes and the pc restarts. I have managed to do some benchmarking on 3D mark and all thermals and score are ok, score is average for this build. I initially thought it might be a faulty PSU however I used my friends RM1000 Corsair which is recommend size for the GPU and it did the same even with his installed, so I have ruled that out now.

CPU: Ryzen 7950x
CPU Cooler: Lian-Li GALAHAD AIO SL 360mm High Performance RGB CPU Water Cooler - White
Case: Lian Li Lancool III RGB Full Tower PC Case - White
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X670E-A Gaming WIFI (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard
RAM: Corsair Vengeance EXPO 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C36 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK32GX5M2D6000Z36)
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24GB GDDR6X PCI-Express Graphics Card
Storage: 1TB Crucial P5 Plus M.2 (22x80) PCIe 4.0 (x4) NVMe SSD, Read 6600MB/s, Write 5000MB/s
PSU: Corsair HX1200, Full Modular, 80PLUS Platinum, SLI/CrossFire, Single Rail, 100A, 135mm Fan, ATX PSU 7ERV4
Windows 11 Home

Thanks
Tom

So I’m experiencing a similar issue. I have a new pc build that’s about a year old now… updated my GPU from 3090 to 4090. Ever since then I notice my pc would randomly restart… mostly while playing YouTube videos. I stress tested everything and it appears my ram, cpu, and even the GPU are working fine with positive results. I even updated my BIOs today hoping that would fix the issue but it happened again. I’m wondering if it’s the GPU driver? Hoping NVIDIA releases a new one soon. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

CPU: Intel i9 12900k
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus hero Z690
DDR5 Ram Corsair dominator 5600mhz 64 gigs
GPU: RTX 4090 FE
PSU: Evga 1000WT

Hi Tom, I’ve got the same issue and same specs rog 4090 rog hero x670 and 7950x
Wondering if you’d any luck fixing this.
also do u have any issues with windows freezing or lagging a Ton right after u log in?

tom.

I would go into BIOS and set everything to default. no CPU or RAM or GPU overclocks and see if you can get some stability. if NO I would start fresh and complete another win 11 install to see if you can get anything to change.

hi tom , i had same exact problem, was running the hero, 7950 and the strix 4090. from what i can tell the mobo is the issue, not sure what exactly is causing this but i even tried two of these hero mobos both with no luck, i went out and got an msi ace and sure enough all my problems were solved. no random rebooting, windows is no longer laggy as can be. abou 70% of my issue was fixed just by the mobo, now trying to figure out why its underperforming.
