The Lian Li website puts it this way:

"With ample front intake, the LANCOOL III can provide strong performance for an AIO cooling build. The top fan bracket can support up to 3 x 120mm/140mm fans and offers enough thickness clearance for an AIO with a 420 radiator/fan combo."

I am considering the purchase of an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II mounted at the top to cool a Ryzen 9 5950X on an Asus Crosshair Dark Hero MB. Even though it states it will fit, I did read where one person so far has said that it will not fit as it hits the MB. Has anyone confirmed this for certain? I do not want to mount it the cooler at the front. I would sooner use a 360 at the top instead but would prefer the 420. Would appreciate any feedback here.

-GN review suggests a 360mm max up there. I take it the 420mm is a bit of a tight and inconvenient fit; the top fan bracket must not be removed when installing the radiator(it needs to be installed as is), and rear fans are a no-go, but that's not a big deal, as top AIO/CLCs don't need a rear fan stealing air from them anyway. Doesn't answer the question though.

-Kitguru review doesn't saying anything about it.
-Nothing in the overclock 3d review either.
-Some Newegg reviews mention neither 280 nor 420mm really work up there. Still no why though.
-Lian Li website, online manual... negative, chief...
-OMG. Around the middle of the Lancool 3's webpage in red letters:
[Note: When installing 280mm or 420mm AIO, please do not install ram height taller than 44mm.]
This is not mentioned ANYWHERE else. This is one heck of a blunder from Lian Li, considering that certain tall ram kits are popular...
That may be what that one person ran into.
