430 Celeron vs Pentium D 820 Comparison

How would the 430 Celeron and Pentium D 820 compare? Performance? Power Consumption?

The Celeron will consume less power since it's based on the "Conroe" architecture. As for OCing the 430 should be able to hit 2.6-2.8Ghz. As for comparison/benchmarks: http://ixbtlabs.com/articles2/cpu/intel-celeron-420-440-page1.html

Overall, assuming you can spend a bit more money, a E2180/E5200/E3300(~$10 more @ Newegg) will be a better investment.

I didn't think those could be used to replace my Pentium D 820. I was looking at Conroe e6x00 cpu also. I saw the passmark scores. It looks the 430 is slower stock than the D 820. I was looking to save energy also, therefore at the Celeron 430. Also it is cheap. I wonder where it would benchmark if moderately OC'd.

Shadow, I read the article, seems to answer a lot of Q. It looks good enough for what I do with a big energy saving. Very cheap to try the Celeron. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
