is a corsair 430 watt psu enough for
fx 6300
gigabyte 970 ud3
8 gb ram
1 ssd
1 hdd
4 case fans
optical drive
nvidia 650 or 660
hd 7850 or 7950

also maybe an overclock

Solution

The 430W model has a 32A 12V rail and has enough overhead to run these cards comfortably.

I would suggest getting the 500w corsair, its usually just a bit more than the 430w, but if you wanted a bigger video card you'll need more power. The 650 and maybe the 7850 would be ok with 430w, but the 7950 and the 660 you'll want a 500w unit atleast.

For an HD Radeon 7950, you need a 500W (or greater) power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors or a 750W (or greater) power supply with four 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended for AMD CrossFire™ technology.

For an HD Radeon 7850, you need a 500W (or greater) power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector or a 600W power supply (or greater) with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended for AMD CrossFire™ technology.

For an Nvidia 650, you need a Minimum System Power Requirement of 400w with One 6-pin Supplementary Power Connectors

For an Nvidia 660, you need a Minimum System Power Requirement of 450w with One 6-pin Supplementary Power Connectors

So a Corsair 430w is not enough to power it all.

I currently power a HD Radeon 7870 OC Edition with an Intel i5 2500, 3 case fans, 3 hard drives with a OCZ ModXstream 600w.

If you were to overclock, I would go with an aftermarket CPU Cooler. Apparently from reviews anyways, the FX 6300 stock cooler is a little loud so perhaps invest in an aftermarket cooler instead of getting an SSD? Even though the SSD will be good, i would get a higher wattage power supply and an aftermarket CPU cooler.
