The other day, I purchased the new Radeon R9 380X. The thing is though, I've read some comments about it, and I hear 45+ FPS on ultra settings, won't usually do 60+ for new titles. So my question is, are you going to notice a big difference between 45-59 FPS vs 60+ FPS?

1080p, I will buy a second monitor in the future, a 2k ultrawide, but I'll only play on the 1080p one, the other I'll use for content creation

A bit late to be asking that if you already bought it. If it is dropping into the 40's you will usually notice it as the game becomes choppy. Not the right card for max settings in everything. However it is very capable, just turn down some details. If you got a factory OC'ed one like the Strix version, you honestly should have just saved the extra few bucks and got a GTX 970 which is almost twice the performance for only a bit more.

Personally i never play above 60fps but for sure i don't like the frame rates jumping around. Constant 60FPS is the most ideal for me though i don't really hate to play on much lower fps as long as the frame rates are consistent. I can feel the smoothness being affected even going from 60fps down to 55fps. Frame rates jumping in the range of 40-60? That is more annoying than playing games at constant 30fps. My tolerance actually around 25-30fps. Below that the game will really start sluggish to me.

Yeah the generally accepted minimum playable framerate is 30 FPS. Although it varies game to game. One major issue for me is it causes eye strain at low FPS, usually leading to a headache.

I will take smooth over higher settings everytime. just remember that the fps can be adjusted by changing settings and dialing it back which will get you to 60fps in every title. Also remember that 60fps really matters for most fps games and the like games that are third person are usually more than fine at 30fps.

Not factory overclocked, I actually bought it at 210 bucks, so I figured why not? It was a great deal for the price

I generally won't be playing high intense games, but if I do and I want smooth, I have a second monitor, less pixels (1280x1080), but smaller, so more pixel density. It's an 18 inch, and I'll use it if I get freakish about ultra settings, 60 FPS
