Will a CORSAIR CX450W be enough for a gtx1070 (http://www.kfa2.com/kfa2/graphics-card/kfa2-geforcer-gtx-1070-ex.html ) and a 4790K (both not overclocked) ?
The mentioned gpu and cpu are in my current pc and the corsair gpu in my wife's pc (she currently has 1050ti and fx8370) and I intend to give her my pc (when I upgrade myself soon) except for my Cougar GX 800w PSU which has the fan failing as we speak (strange sounds).. I opened it and saw that the fan is not replaceble..fan wire is soldered to pcb. Both my Cougar and her Corsair PSU's are about the same age: 18-20 months old.
My mental math (88w cpu +150w gpu at peak utilization+ 50w for ram, fans, ssd+hdd ) says that she will be below 400w but even the gpu website -link above says minimum recomended psu :500w. According to this https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40/ the CORSAIR CX 2017 series is a B+ tier..so it should handle even continuous 450w.. Does she really have to get a higher wattage psu? (if yes, it's probably going to be the same corsair cx series but maybe the 550 or 650w variant).
