450W i5-446 + R9 280X

It's a shame, but despite being labelled as a "250W" card, some aftermarket 280Xs can push 300W when fully stressed, even at their factory settings: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7400/the-radeon-r9-280x-review-feat-asus-xfx/20

Add an 84W processor and you're getting mighty close to your 408W on the 12V Rail. Add the motherboard, fans, storage, etc and you're over.

The bigger problem as well is that, unfortunately, those VS series are not high quality units. You'll find them down on tier 3: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
They're not junk either, but there's no way you want to run them close to capacity for any extended period of time. So while "normal" gaming loads or video editing will be perhaps 100W shy of a pure stress test like running Furmark + Prime95 simultaneously, you're still going to be floating towards the upper limit of the PSU... which is not good practice on any unit and is a very bad idea on units of middling quality.

If you're in the US there's a very capable Antec 620W going for $40 after rebates at the moment: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/antec-power-supply-neoeco620c
