Hello community. I'll be overclocking my 4670k on the MSI g45 z87 as soon as I get a new PSU. So I was wondering what kind of overclocking would I be able to get with this cpu cooler. For those of you who don't know it, its a 3 pipe, 92cm cooler and is about 15% weaker then the 212 evo. The current temps are 30 to 40 on idle and light usage. How realistic is 4.6 stable with good temps?

Solution
Haswell is a hot processor..and rather difficult to overclock..
Many reviews said, Haswell can run at 4.6GHz perfectly with Vcore 1.2v, ..
About how far you can overclock it, well, there's no one know until you try it by your self.

Actually, as long as you can keep it under 90'c at stressing program,(prime95, etc) it's considered safe..because once over 90~95° C, the chip will begin throttling to reduce temperatures and that will make your overclock pretty useless rather quickly.

Well, i suggest you get a better cooler. for such high end cpu, it's makes no sense to spend less than $20 for cooling system..
Get noctua d14 or Pantheks Ph Tc14pe for play safe..

Well I already have the tx3 and im on a very tight budget so I don't have for another cooler(I have yet to purchase ssd hdd psu gpu). 4.6 is just a wish, I think I would not go over 4.4 ghz.
