Hello,

i5 4670k
GTX 1070ti
4x4GB DDR3 1333
SSD/HDD
Z87 mobo
Win 10 x64
1080p 144hz monitor

The thing is - in latest AssCreed and Battlefield games,CPU is capped out at 100% usage while GPU often is at ~50%. The story is similar in some other latest games.

I am curious if its worth upgrading to something like 9600k? 9700K is ~150Eur extra and I don't think its really worth it. Nice for the ego, but realistically the actual gains are most likely not worth the money.
Maybe AMD cpu? Never bought them, but as I understand it - they are doing a comeback?
I don't stream or use VR. Just standard gaming.

Thank you.

Upgrading to a newer generation processor forces you to incur the costs of a new motherboard and new ram. Nearly a new system. If I were you I would max out the Haswell processor and see if it solves your problem. An I7-4790k is a substantial upgrade to your current processor.

On the other hand, do you actually need more processor power? Yes, you are processor limited on some games, but are you also seeing frame rates which are too low? If not, leave well enough alone....you also did not mention if you are over clocking that 4670K....if not, an over clock just might give you enough processing power to hold off a while yet.

I did set 4ghz overclock in bios years ago. The automatic one, since I did not understand how to do it manually. Did not want to touch that voltage stuff.
Yeah, new cpu, mobo and ram would be ~550Eur.
And I was looking into 4790k, but.. buy a used CPU? I don't know. I usually buy new stuff.
