Hey,

Pretty new to overclocking and I'm trying to find stable overclock for my 4670k, but it seems I got rather unlucky with my cpu. I set it to 4.2Ghz and 1.2V, if I run intel burn test, I can run it for hours and my pc wont reboot or BSOD, but if I run prime95 it will reboot or bsod after 5-15minutes. That will even happen if I set my voltage to 1.23, and I even tried 1.25v but I couldn't run prime95 longer than 5 minutes because one of the cores jumped to 91C for a second. Is my cpu really that bad or I can try to do something else here.

System specs:

Gigabyte Z87-hd3
i5 4560k
Crucial Ballistix 2x8GB DDR3 at stock clock
Chieftec 750W psu
GTX 760
Noctua NH-D14 cooler

Solution
you'll find a lot of people have a different opinion on it

most of the stress testing tools create work loads that you'll very rarely or possibly never reach during normal usage, but they are the best way to check stability.

personally, if it can pass IBT then it's pretty stable

i use IBT, Sony Vegas rendering and 3dmark to test my OC's
