Hi. So tomorrow or the day after Im getting my new pc parts: H81 VG4 R3.0 Mobo and an i5. At first I was aiming for the i5 4570 but then I saw that the i5 4670k is worth only $30 more(converted to dollars). Can I overclock with it enough so it is worth the 30 bucks? Thanks

Solution
i5 4570 is a 3.2Ghz with boost 3.6Ghz
i5 4670k is a 3.4Ghz with boost 3.8Ghz

For $30 you will get a .2Ghz boost in speed. Since your on a H81 board you will not be able to OC ether of the CPU's, if you want to OC you will have the get a Z87 or Z97 board.

Solution
1. you cannot over clock a H81 Motherboard not even if your have a 4xxxK CPU on it. so pbvious choice is 4570

2. if you have a separate video card in your system (not using the one on the motherboard) you could consider ;
a) that according to the CPU compatibility list of the web site https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H81M-VG4%20R3.0/#CPU consider finding the "E3-1223 V3 XEON" CPU Price, performance wise it is as good in speeds as an I5-4570 and may be cheaper even.
b) PassMark scores the I5-4570 @ 7127 with single thread score of 2055 versus the E3-1225 V3 Xeon to score 7208 with single thread score of 2012.

worth looking into the price of a E3-1223 V3 Xeon, could save you some money, who knows

I agree.
If over clock is out of the question, you won’t be able to feel the 6% difference in boost speed.
If OC was possible, I’d recommend the K, as you should be able to run it at 4.3, on a quality air cooler, which would be 20% faster than the non-k.
