4690k overclock; need to remove/replace RAM to boot

Overclocking a 4690k, gigabyte ZA97 gaming 5 MOBO, 16gb kingston 1600 RAM
BIOS version 6.

Initially overclock went well, at 4.5ghz and 1.3 V had issues with stability and booting. Had issues even booting into BIOS.
Eventually at 4.4ghz, worked for a few days, then died. Not able to boot at all, no beeps, BIOS, etc.
I removed ram and replaced, and now is able to boot. Each time I shut down, not able to restart again until RAM is removed and replaced.

Any ideas what is causing this and/or how it can be fixed? During OC stress test with AIDA64 shows max temp at 72C.

Use memtest86 and thoroughly test each stick of ram for stability. Then try it in sets.

Thanks much for the advice. I did an overnight memtest 86 with no errors. I assume that means that the RAM is good. Perhaps its the MOBO?

That means that the ram is good. Also means the slots on the Mobo for the ram and the cpu in relation to the ram is good.

Use programs such as CPUz and prime95 (v26.6 specifically) to test your cpu out though.
