4690K + R9 285 vs 4460 + R9 280X

My second option is choosing an i5 4460 and pairing it with an r9 280x for roughly the same combined price.

I would like to keep using this pc for at least 3 years without upgrading a single thing, as I will be purchasing it over 36-month installments.

I'm worried if either setups will cope with future games and such for 1080p.

I would appreciate your input.

This is a good build, however the 280 performs better than the 285. The 285 just has lower power use.

280X has 3GB VRAM vs 2GB of R9 285 and is faster . i would go for R9 280X + i5 4460

or you could go for the CHEAPER and better-performing 280 and stick with the overclockable cpu...

the winning argument for the 4460 is extended product life span.

?? If you don't exceed unreasonable voltages or temperatures, the 4690k will last much longer than 3 years.

Core i5 4460 is fast enough for gaming .
