The parts I have chosen are as follows:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Guard-Pro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 285 2GB WINDFORCE 2X Video Card
Case: Antec GX500 ATX Mid Tower Case
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer
Monitor: LG 22MP55HQ-P 60Hz 22.0" Monitor
PSU: Antec VP-500PC 500W
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Contac 21

My second option is choosing an i5 4460 and pairing it with an r9 280x for roughly the same combined price.

I would like to keep using this pc for at least 3 years without upgrading a single thing, as I will be purchasing it over 36-month installments.

I'm worried if either setups will cope with future games and such for 1080p.

I would appreciate your input.
