4770 for $20 more?

Is it justifiable to spend 20 bucks more on a 4770 than a 9800gt?

Only if you view a lot of movies, the ATI card has better DVD/Blu-ray decode, for games, no.

well when overclocked you can almost reach the performance of a 4850, which beats the 9800GT. so for games i would think the 4770 beats the 9800GT

I would go with a 4850 since there cheaper and perform a bit faster.

no question there. the 4770 really beats the 9800gt in all aspects (slightly), except for phsx and cuda. the question is if it's worth the 20 bucks.

the 4850 is a damn powerhog and it runs so hot!

4770's are too rare/expensive (USA anyway). You can just about buy an HD 4870 for the price of an HD 4770. Not putting consumption into the equation, the better value is obvious.

Yes it's worth it to spend $20 more on a 4770 than a 9800GT, but both loose to the 4850. The only reason to choose the 4770 over the 4850 is if you have a weak power supply or can't deal with the extra heat.

Anyway if you're just comparing the 4770 to the 9800GT, the 4770 is just below the level of a 9800GTX/GTX+ so it's considerably faster, but if you're just playing the SIMS or something, or game at a low resolution like 800x600, then that doesn't matter :lol:.
