I've looked through the forums and the only threads I'm finding on this subject question different coolers and overclocked CPU's. So please help me out and bare with me.

I have a standard 4.0GHz i7 4790K processor. With the Corsair H75 liquid cooler. However I'm concerned with my temperatures.

  • Using HWMonitor:
    >I'm not sure what the ambient temperature of my computer is, but the TZ00 and TZ01 readings show 28c and 30c.

    >The computer idles on the desktop at around 41c, and idles in the BIOS menu at around 35c.

    >The core temps when gaming such as on CS:GO or Battlefield 4 are around 72c.

    >My case is a corsair 500R. With a side panel intake 200mm fan, two front intake 120mm fans, and two exhaust 120mm fans on the CPU radiator at the back; configured in a push pull manner.

    >The thermal paste used is the standard paste which came with the H75.

    >The motherboard CPU reading compared to the core temperature is usually 2c lower in all cases.

    >The cooler is mounted properly. I recently mounted it again to be sure and the temperatures are about the same.
Do I have anything to worry about and are these 4790K temperatures normal with the H75?

I've seen some people comment that when gaming at load their 4790K is hovering between 50c - 60c, on the H75, which I just can't imagine as possible.

Thermal paste on the H75 comes pre-applied you just have to mount it.

You say they should be lower, to what temperature?

I would expect low to mid 60s, but it depends on your ambient tempature, which is the temperature in your room. Factory thermal paste could be pretty bad as well.

I'd say that the temperature of the room after the PC has been working for a while is in the low-20c.

From what I've read the H75 factory thermal paste is fairly decent. Better paste would only lower the temperature by 3c.

Would you disagree and what is the best thermal paste to get for the 4790K? Also would more exhaust case fans lower the temperature to the low 60s?

I would not worry about it to much 72 is still a decent tempature, if it goes higher than 80 then i would worry.

That's good to know. But what do you use and what temps do you get?

I use big Air , I have a Deepcool ASSASSIN on mine and it's housed in a 750D with the High Airflow Bezel , temps are a little lower than yours.

For the Corsair AIO anything under the h100 is going to be pretty much average.

Your temps are fine.

It's performing like it should.
