4790k 55c Idle temp

Hey guys, I have a 4790k on a ASRock Fatal1ty z97 killer. I've reapplied thermal paste twice now and it idles at 55c. WHen I run Prime95 it shoots up to 95c in a minute. What should I be doing to fix this?

Stock cooler or aftermarket? Cryorig H7 should help.

It's the stock cooler. I've heard it's not the best, but those temps are way too high for comfort.

Yep. I purchased the 2500K years ago. I purchased the V8. Hmmmmm. Let's try the stock cooler with the pre-applied paste. Okay. 53C. Let's try the V8(Cooler Master). 35 and cooler once in Windows.

But did it ever reach that high while stress testing it? Could it be something in my bios?

When I saw 53c at idle I wasn't about to check what would happen with something like Intel Burn Test.

I don't think so.

I have the 4690K and the 212 Evo with a second fan keeps it happy even when it and my 970 FTW are both OC'd.
