4790k Core Temps

My i7 4790k has been having high temps at max load. If left at max load long enough ~5 mins, it hits 80+ Degrees Celsius. I have disabled turbo boost and all other overclocks, and have adjusted the fan curve so the fan is at 100% at 70+ degrees. This is the intel stock fan that came with the CPU, with the stock thermal paste. I hope to get a Hyper 212 Evo in the very near future, but just want to check that these temps are safe.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

80c is not something I would want to hit regularly. If your hitting 80c on a stress test then I wouldn't worry about it to much however. I would at least start with new thermal paste if a new cooler is not an option at this time.

Repeatedly hitting 80c will have long term impacts.

Are you overclocking the CPU?
Cut it back a bit if you are. It will help.

80C consistently is above the max temp specified by intel ark (http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz). Intel stock coolers are notorious for high temps under stress. What is your fan configuration?

I'm not OC'ing, and have no plan to. I would like, when I have my Hyper 212 Evo, to enable turbo boost but that's all. During normal use (gaming etc) I do occasionally have a max temp in coretemp of 80+ degrees, but generally stay below, as in sometimes I will open coretemp and the 'max temp' box will display 82 or 83 degrees. I adjusted my fan curve about a week ago and haven't seen it that high since - usually only hitting about 75. Is this safe? I've been running like this since Christmas 2014, and I hope to have my cooler this month (September 2015). I think it should be fine, but I've gotten paranoid.

Here's the normal operating range for Core temperature:

80C Hot (100% Load)
75C Warm
70C Warm (Heavy Load)
60C Norm
50C Norm (Medium Load)
40C Norm
30C Cool (Idle)

Core temperatures in the mid 70's are safe.

As I mentioned in my previous post, everything you need to know is in the Temperature Guide. If you're paranoid about your temperatures, then give it a read so you can get yourself up to speed on this topic. The knowledge will help you feel more confident about your rig.
