Hello!
i own a 4790k(no oc) for almost like a year now, problem is it was always really hot.. i think i got one of those bad batch.. since i use a seidon 240m and also changed the thermal paste to an artic silver 5 with no improvement.
while gaming im always at 60 - 65c, but when i play Guild Wars 2... thats the lower i get, i mean i get 70 - 77 in Gw2 normally, so now im actually worried since the tcase of the 4790k is 74c (+5c = 79core temp) and im getting really close to it...
what could i do? could i damage my cpu if i keep playing at those high temps?, it could easily spike to 80 in high density places..
btw i get the same temps as gw2 in cs:go

well hope i can get some help

Ty bye!

Try re-mounting the CPU cooler (make sure to clean both surfaces with 99% isopropyl alcohol), since your using Arctic Silver 5, use the line method and NOT the pea method, as AS5 works better when there is a thinner layer of it between the CPU and the Cooler.

If this doesn't work, you could always turn the speed up on your radiator fans.

Sadly already did and i cleaned everything with the artic cleaner (1 & 2), also tried to max the fans... with no gain... sometimes it makes me think if it is the seidon the one with problems..

when i turn them all up, it sounds like a truck so yeah im pretty sure they are running well.. but they dont make any big difference in temperature.. (obviously they low it a bit)

bye!

try using a different software to monitor it , if u have when your playing a game put your hand on the side of ran the air is pushing and feel for heat if no hot then its the software, if so then your 4790 is just a hot chip. make sure to go into your bios and turn down the voltage they come stock high you can turn to around 1.200 for stock speeds

sadly ive tried 3 different softwares.. hwmonitor intel extreme core temp and the MB has a led with the cpu temp also...
il try the bios down voltage.. (does it void any warranty doing it?) since i still have the last month of warranty i think..
