4790k Temperature Fluctuation

Hi, I recently bought a new build and it includes the 4790k with the h80i cooling systemand Asus Maximus ranger. My temperatures have been fluctuating while not under less than 10% load. It will go from 40 up to 60 back down within seconds then from 50 to 70. It is happening every so often. I took the cooler off and reapplied new Arctic silver thermal paste also but im not sure what the problem may be?

If those temps are in Fahrenheit, than thats pretty good. If they are in Celsius, which is how CPU/GPU temps are commonly spoken about, then you do have an issue. Is your CPU overclocked? If so, what frequency?

might be too much or not enough past or the cooler might not be seated properly.

you can go on youtube about thermal past application and the best way to apply it is the cross methode.
