4790K Temperatures? Are they OK?

I've got Noctua DH14 cooler.

I been playing Shadow of Mordor 4k, on ultra settings.

Base clock - No overclock Max: 65. Average: 55?
4.5Ghz Overclock Max: 87. Average 75-80?
4.7Ghz Overclock Max 95. Average 83-87?

Are these temps okay? I want to overclock the CPU because when I did I noticed a nice FPS increase in the games I play, but the temps are a problem.

I overclocked the CPU using EasyTune auto tuning options. (I don't know how to apply voltage to the CPU in the BIOS and I'm a little too afraid to burn the CPU).

Will my temperatures be better if I manage to overclock it manually through BIOS? I think the automatic overclock is giving the CPU too much voltage, and more voltage = more heat.

(Also, when I overclock, I have to adjust DRAM frequency from 1330 to 2400, it does it automatically and I don't know how?)

Everything is fine airflow is perfect. I'm overclocking VIA SOFTWARE. I don't know how much voltage the CPU gets extra etc. This means it probably gets more than it should. I just need to know if that's the case perhaps?

Not too sure about voltages because software does the overclock for me.

Software overclocking is nice but is also faulty in that it gives little to no control over the voltage and tends to over-volt CPUs. If you need say 1.3v to get your OC, it will push 1.4v+ instead making the CPU run much hotter than it would.

I would suggest looking at the OCing guides here on THF under the CPU forums and trying to do a manual overclock and see if you can get better temperatures, especially with the Noctua DH14.

Does "Easy Tune" give you Frequency, Temperature and Voltage?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of these mobo "Auto OC" programs because I don't like the voltages that they "select". I'd rather do the settings myself, either in the BIOS (#1) or with IXTU (#2) (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility). I watch Temps closely with "CoreTemp", which keeps track on Min/Max Temps.

A "conservative maximum" is 80*C. for normal applications and gaming. For Stress Testing, I like to keep it below 90*C. Max. I have a 4th Gen Haswell and these temps are mostly based upon my research of the i5 4670K CPU. While Googling for Max Temps for the i7 4790K, I stumbled across one "Guide" (QUORA?) that said that as long as you don't exceed 100*C., you're OK!! I'm not buying that at all!!

I like to keep my Vcore below 1.300 v.

HERE (Link) is the "Devil's Canyon Owners Club" on Overclock.net. They don't give a lot of temps but some do, along with other settings. Use this to see what others are doing, NOT what is best for your CPU.

Adjusting RAM freq. from 1330 MHz to 2400 MHz will likely take a pretty good voltage boost also. I wouldn't exceed 1.500 v. for the RAM.

I had similar problems with my 4790k using a Corsair H100i. I was getting horrible throttling, and performance was lower than my old 2600k. Turned out I had the backplate on wrong and it wasn't sitting on the chip right. I now get idle temps at around 31C and max temps at about 47C under full load. Check out the back plate and/or how the cooler is mounted.
