4790K upgrade worth it?

Hi all,

Quick question regarding whether an upgrade is worth the time and money. I play games such as BF1, PUBG, and other random AAA and FPS games. In some games I have noticed my CPU seems to be holding me back. I'm not ready for a full blown upgrade yet, but in the meantime I could get a used 4790K for $150. Is the upgrade worth it?

Edit: I would also like to add that I could simply replace the GPU going forward with a 4790K, since it doesn't appear there are bottleneck problems with the 10 series Nvidia cards.

Current Build:
i5-4670K
MSI GTX 760 Hawk
ASRock z87 Extreme 4
16gb DDR3 Ripjaws at 1866
XFX 750w Gold+
Windows 10

Thank you!

Solution
Worth is something only YOU can determine.
I think upgrading to a i7-4790K would be a good deal.
You can probably sell your 4690K for $100.
What you get will be 4 more threads which multiplayer games like.
Regardless, you are leaving cpu performance on the table if you do not overclock the "K"

Currently playing at 1080p on a 60hz monitor. In the future I will be playing on 1440p at 144hz. What I am concerned with is that currently on games like BF1 and PUBG I haven't noticed high usage of my GPU, but my CPU is completely maxed out. On 1440p I'm sure I would feel that much more. The ideal situation would be to upgrade both :) but that isn't in the budget at the moment.

I would do both. 16GB of memory is expensive to replace at the moment, so getting the most out of that is worthwhile. You don't necessarily have to go out and get a brand new i7-4790k. i7-4771/4770 and i7-4790 aren't too hard to find in business desktops either. Can often get whole systems for quite reasonable prices. Then you take your i5 out, put it in the business system, and re-sell it. A little more time, but it can abate the costs a lot.

And BF1 does like threads. PUBG is just a messy program, maybe it will get better with time (Or whenever PUBG 2 is designed)

Thank you all for your advice! The business system may be something I consider. At the very least I will upgrade my CPU now and wait until the 11 series cards come out to hopefully spend a little less on a 10 series or maybe even a mid tier 11.
