I recently upgraded from 4570 to 4790K to try and boost my system for a few more years. Application is audio recording and editing. Very demanding on my i5 and the i7 has so much more bandwidth.
However, my temps seem high (to me) and the voltages as well. Cooler is CM EVO 212. Gigabyte Z87 UDH4 with BIOS F9. Auto turbo set to 4.4, 4.4, 4.3, 4.2 on the cores. All voltages set to auto.
Multi core, turbo off:
At 3.8 -- 36-37C and 1.044v (target 1.030v)
At 3.9 -- 37-38C and 1.044v (target 1.040v)
At 4.0 -- 48-50C and 1.248v (target 1.244v) and I've seen spikes of 1.313v while in windows under load
Turbo:
At 4.4 -- 60-62C and 1.404v (target 1.398v) and the cpu fan is spinning fast. I've actually disabled it because I'm afraid of damaging the chip.
Is this normal?
