480 or 980gtx - same price

Hello!
A friend is selling his 980 gtx msi card. Its working fine. I can get it for about 20 dollars less than refrence rx 480. What would you guys chose?

Im angling towards 480 because of freesync

What condition is that 980 in? Specific model?
The 980 should edge out the 480 by a small margin

The 480 seems inline with a 970 so the 980 should be slightly ahead

980 for 180 would be a no-brainer, but if you own or plan to buy a FreeSync monitor, it's not even a question, go for the 480. FreeSync will more than make up for the FPS "loss".

980 is way better than the 480, if you can get it and it's in good condition go for the 980 !!

I belive its in good condition, its been used for folding.
Unfortunetly the cards is not 200 in my country, more like 350$ (norway)
Planing to buy a 2560x1080p screen around christmas time and freesync is sooo much cheeper

Well you should already know that FreeSync -> AMD, G-Sync -> NVIDIA. Regardless of this 980 is a lot better.

Definitely prioritize FreeSync. Totally worth it.

Thanks for alle the quick replys. It seems the 480 is a bit slower, but at the moment i dont do more than 1080p and freesync seems good. Ill go for the sapphire 480!

Good choice. You'll love FreeSync and the 480 is good enough even for 21:9 1080p.
