4870 Lid Hinges

Both of my 4870 lid hinges have failed. Anyone else have this problem?

How have they failed?

When closing, the lid hold notch, makes an audible click and resulting
pressure on base causes rear surface (in front of hinge slots) to flex. The
design is not good.
