4870 vs 4890

im looking for a new video card and im in canada. i read some decent reviews on Powercolor and have decided to get one of their cards. i have found the 4870 1gb for 150 after mir and the 4890 1gb for 200 after mir. here are the links http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=37408&promoid=1192

i am using a 8800gt 512mb right now and am wanting to upgrade up. also am looking for a monitor inbetween 20/22 inchs whenever the time comes

yes sorry i didnt make it clear. that is what i am wondering. and if theres any difference with the cooling/temperatures

The 4890 is faster so go for it if you can afford it. If it's pushing your budget than then just get the 4870.

Yes! please get a powercolor card. They're based in Cali unlike most of ATI's partners based in Asia. You'd do a great thing helping the North American economy.


also, i'd go with the 4890. I've seen one for like $169 on newegg and that's a pretty good deal, which i would have even gone for but my cpu is kinda weak.

depends. stock settings on the 4890 arent really that special.

if you oc it to around 1ghz, it performs considerably better. or get a pre-oc'd model.
