4890 running at PCI-Express 4x, fast enough to fold?

I know the Radeon cards aren't best suited to folding - but I have a 5870 and a 4890 in the same system. I'm using the 5870 in the faster 16x PCI-E 2.0 slot and the 4890 in the 4x slot. There's a third slot even further down and I'm assuming that wouldn't be faster...

Suggestions? Thoughts? Should I use the third PCI-E slot instead?

Core i7 920 @ 3.1Ghz on air
12GB DDR3 triple channel
Radeon 5870 + 4890 (Not CF'ed obviously lol)
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Antec 300

No. Normally your Main slot (x16) is the only available high bandwidth slot. Vs the other slots which are normally x4 and x4.

Most motherboards only have 1 X16 slot, although the higher end motherboards have dual x16 slots. Those are quite expensive.

The specs listed for my MB show it has 3 16x slots and a 4x slot. I think it means 16 lanes but not true full speed 16 lanes? Does that make sense?

Ok just looked at your specs. You are right - your mobo has 3 x PCIe 16X slots, but apparently they can only run in x16 x16 and x4.

Basically you shouldnt use your Yellow slot as it's locked down to 4x. If you can use the other PCIe Green slot that should probably help a little bit.
