4GB, 6GB or 8GB DDR2 Ram for gaming?

I have a fairly old computer but im not sure if i should upgrade it or buy an entirely new computer. I went with upgrading it and It seems that all my hardware is pretty good for gaming but my ram!

I know how to put ram in but I dont know what ram I should get or if my computer can run any more ram! I think my computer can run 8gb ddr2 of ram but then people are telling me I need to check the pc number and the GHz and the Mhz and a bunch of other stuff! can anyone help me figure out what type of ram my computer can run and if i should upgrade or not! Unfourchonaty, that motherboard can only handle up to four GB of RAM, "2 x DIMM, Max. 4 GB, DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory". A new motherboard would be requiored to get the 8 GB of RAM that you really need for comphortable gaming (depending on the game, but this is the general concensus). Z new motherboard for LGA 775 would be hard to come by, the only one I know of the you can even buy new would actualy be a $100 downgrade. For a new motherboard, if you choose to keep your CPU, will have to be used. I can help you find one if you tell us where you would buy it from and how much you're wiling to spend.

I saw the specs bu it also says 8gb of ram ddr2, why cant I use ddr2?

It depends honestly, on what you're playing, how much you're using, and how much is in demand.
I'd say 4GBs just to budget, 6GBs to be comfortable, and 8GBs to be safe
Also if you're a speed freak and want squeeze a TINY BIT more speed outta them, get the split sticks

4GB is for office computers, 6GB for non-graphic hungry games, and 8GB to be perfect. Anything above 8GB is really good.
