I was planing on getting the MSI RX 480 Gaming X 4gb but I saw amazing deals on the 8gb reference variant.Aesthetics are pretty important to me and the MSI card in my opinion looks amazing and boasts good cooling and reviews say the same thing. But I was wondering if its worth getting the 8gb edition from XFX ( https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150770&cm_re=rx_480-_-14-150-770-_-Product )But I heard reference coolers don't cool well and that worries me because I might not be able to use it to its full potential. If it will be more future proof and if it can last for longer than the MSI one then I will sadly not go for aesthetics but let me know what you think I should do.Thanks for all of your help!

If you had need for an 8gb card now, such as for graphics mods, then I'd say the 8gb makes sense. If your concern is future proofing, I'd get the 4gb card that has all the things you like. That's because it's likely that by the time that 8gb vram is the norm or even recommended for most games you'll want something more powerful than a 480 anyways.

Look at it this way, the RX 460 4gb model and the RX 470 4gb model both have 4gb of memory yet I think you'd agree that performance levels are vastly different. Memory amount isn't the game saving element in videocards.
I'd get the 8gb, but that's because I like messing around with skyrim mods that eat up a lot of vram. Otherwise the 4gb will be fine in almost every situation. The reference cooler is pretty loud, so I don't like recommending it. In terms of cooling it keeps the card within operational temps, so unless you have really bad case airflow it's unlikely you will experience thermal throttling. What kind of games are you playing and what resolution are you running?

Games like skyrim and fallout usually have graphics mods such as higher res texture packs, animations, extra content etc. The one that will eat up a lot of VRAM is the high res textures.
