4GB ram not getting detected but 2GB is getting detected....

I have a DELL VOSTRO and it has got 8GB ram ( 2x4 ).Now the problem is that my PC is not turning ON.I even removed the ram and exchanged the slots.Then i bought a new 4GB ram still it dint work.Then i noticed that my PC turned on when i installed a 2GB ram.SO only a 2GB ram is getting detected in my ram slot...ANY SOLUTIONS ?????????

It might not support 4GB RAM sticks.

Incompatible memory.
With memory questions always list the exact memory your trying to use and the exact model number of your PC.

when i bought the laptop it came with one 4GB ram.So i bought another 4GB ram and made it totally 8GB.It worked perfectly for around 2 years.Now suddenly my pc is not starting.The CD drive is opening the fan runs properly everything is ok but nothing is shown in the display.I even removed the ram and turned it on and i got the beep sound so i guess there is no fault with the mother board.But if i install a 2GB ram then the PC is turning on.
