I had installed a new power supply about 3 months ago because of the other failing due to me removing the ground of the outlet (Stupid right?) anyways, after my father installed it for me, we turned it on and 12 GB of my RAM was not all usuable like how it was prior to my PSU failing. I've had this problem ever since the installation and it's about time for me too ask myself on how to fix it. I've tried almost everything, and yes my window's is 64 - Bit ultimate. Both of my RAM sticks are from different companies but they both worked together before the installation. All of the unusable RAM is considered "Reserved" for some odd reason. Can someone please help me?

I literally JUST reinstalled windows 7 Ultimate and nothing worked. I've tried msconfig unchecking the box, I've tried just about every possible thing i could ever try and nothing has worked yet.

I had the same problem. here's what i did to fix it.
1: Only put one ram in and test out all four slots. On mine only two worked.
2: i put the rams in the two working slots.
3: i got all 8 gbs
then i found out that the other 2 slots that were "not working" was actually was working instead it was just being used as a reserved memory slot. i found out because i had another 4 gb ram laying around and i plugged it in the the slots that were not being used and when i turned my pc back on it said i had 7.9 gb used and 4.1 gb in reserved. so i think some slots are used for reserved and some are used to actually be used.
