Are there any games that would benefit from more than 2gb of ram right now? I've been seeing a lot more people going for 4gb of ram these days.

So is there really any benefit right now? Obviously it will help in the future, but I'm wondering about the present.

I used to have two gbs, but then one of them "broke". The computer won't work at all with it in. And I know it isn't some other component causing the problem, because I've tried my brothers RAM with mine (its the same) and it works fine. And the "broken" ram won't work in other motherboards either. So don't try to help me with that.

What I was trying to say though, was that I don't really notice that much of a difference from 2gb to 1gb. And I use Vista. So I think right now 4 gb is a little overkill. I know 2gb would help with games, but I don't really think 4 would give much of a benefit.

it doesn't make much diffrence man. i have 2GB and it's more then enough for all the games. maybe in future we will need more but not now. and you need 64bit os to fully use 4gb ram

I'm not sure 4GB may be overkill but with one game open (and nothing else open on Vista 64) my utilization of 2 GB is at 94+%.... thinking of moving up to 4 GB 😉

Would 3gb be worth it in 32 bit XP? I was planning on buying 2gb in a matched pair and then an additional 1 gb in a matched pair both the same speed, timing and brand. While from some things I have read I wont see much of a performance increase if any but would it help with running multiple programs? I belive it helps a little with like audio and video editing, I do a little audio editing and will continue on my new rig but use it mainly for gaming surfing the web and audio/video? The price for the extra 1gb of ram is small but if I won't get any benefit at all I will go with 2gb.

... would it help with running multiple programs?....
Yes, in the sense that more of each program will remain in RAM rather than being swapped out to virtual memory on the hard disk. As for whether or not it's worth it, that's your call. With RAM down to $60/GB, it certainly doesn't cost very much.
