Hello, I recently got my hands on the mentioned model, the SM8600PSA. I've been able to do either 4k @ 60hz or 1440p @ 120 hz. However, I'd like to use 4k @ 120 hz, and can't figure out if the model supports it or doesn't.
Initially, I've tried simply using the Nvidia pannel with CRU to set it to 4K, 120 hz at 4:2:0 YCbCr, but that doesn't work. Looking online, reviews such as ' https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/sm8600 ' state that it can't do said refresh rate and resolution. However, I'm not sure if they simply assumed it couldn't because of HDMI 2.0b limitations. I've tried all 4 ports for good measure, and used the 'game mode' option.
When using CRU, the resolution was added as a new CEA-861 extension block, under TV resolutions as a 4:2:0, 120 hz 3840x2160 resolution. I should note that, without CRU, this resolution does not appears by itself.
When support was contacted, they informed that the model could, in fact, do 4k @ 120hz. I'm not sure of the exact wording, since I'm not the one who did the phone call. It is also possible that they simply got it wrong.
So, does anyone with the same line of TV's had any sucess? Similar stories? Are there any steps I might have missed?
I'm currently using a 1080 ti, and I'm using the HDMI port for the TV. I do have an display port to hdmi 2.0 active adapter, but I've opted not to use it because I've had some troubles using the 4:2:0 setting on it. Drivers are 442.92 Nvidia Studio, but previously I attemped to use the Game ready version (no differences were seen).
