Hello, i'm looking to purchase a new monitor but can't seem to make up my mind

I would like a 4K monitor but i'm so used to 1080p 144hz that i don't know how the 60hz would feel.

Is there any input lag for 60hz? Whenever i'm getting 60fps on my monitor it feels as if i'm lagging a bit with controls.

I'm not sure if i should stick with 144hz and go for a 1440p or try 4K @ 60hz.

Thank you!!!

what games do you play? If MMORPG, 4k is better. If FPS games like first personal shooting, 1440p 144hz is much better experience. Budget? Living in US? For AAA games, 1080 is not quite sufficient for either if playing ultra, 1080ti is needed.

What is the rest of your system?
What kinds of games do you play?

60hz is fine for mmo and strategy games where fast action is not required.
A large high resolution wide screen monitor can be very immersive.
They will usually come in ips type panels which are better visually.

If you favor fast action shooters, then a faster ips panel might be better and 1440P is a good way to go.

What is your budget?
There are some really good 4k monitors with high refresh rates but they can be expensive.

Then, also, your graphics card probably needs to be in the GTX1080ti class to generate sufficiently high frame rates to do better than 60 fps on a 4k monitor.

Whatever you do, buy the best monitor you can afford.
It will be with you for a very long time.

My budget is around $300 - $400

My system specs are:
I7 6700K
GTX 1080 STRIX
16GB DDR4
ASUS Z170-A

I enjoy a little of both, at the moment i'm enjoying games such as gta 5, story line games such as prey and hitman but once in a while i'm in the mood for games such as CSGO or SIEGE.

If you can, go to a store where you can see the monitors in person.

If you buy higher resolution, look for a larger monitor.
High resolutions result in smaller text which is seen better on a larger monitor.
Looking at options, I see this LG 34" 2560 x 1080 monitor which advertises 75hz.

Ignore the freesync which only applies to amd graphics cards.
Your GTX1080 has adaptive vsync which uses buffering to accomplish the similar result of matching the gpu output to the monitor refresh rate.
And... keep your old monitor as a side monitor for email and performance monitors.
Connected to your GTX1080 it will not impact your gaming.
