4K and 8K Video editing System

We are a small studio that i ready to build its next 4/8K Video editing suite.

We have a budget of A$6500 approx US$5200 for the box alone. Monitors have already been sourced. This machine will only run Premiere, After Effects, Audition and Media Encoder during its 9-5 working life.

At this stage we are using Windows 10/64 Bit with our other systems alongside MAC's

We have been looking at motherboard that now take up to 3 M.2 SSDs, not sure whats better yet, Thunderbolt 3 is mandatory as our external drives are TB3

Given the new Ryzen chips and motherboards, the choice is even greater, finding a motherboard is being a little difficult.

I envisage the following,

Samsung EVO Pro 960 M2 SSD 512Gb for Operating System and Apps
Samsung EVO Pro 960 M2 SSD 512Mb for Cache/Proxy
Samsung EVO Pro 950 SSD 1Tb x 4 for Project
or Samsung EVO Pro 950 SSD 2Tb x 2 Raid 0 for Project (Expandable as required)

CPU ??
64Gb Ram Minimum
Quadro M4000 or GTX 1080
Power Supply 1000W + ?
Case ?

AMD Threadripper is just around the corner. Wait for benchmarks, but that could very possibly be the CPU you'd want for this machine.

Intel's latest i9 chips are quite fast, but the thermal performance is abysmal.
