If I play a game (PC game in this particular case) on my 4K TV, but set in-game resolution to 1080p, I know the game will run better, but will it look worse? Or also better? I know that on monitors playing content of less resolution than the display is able to produce is worse. For example, watching 1080p YouTube videos on my 1440p monitor is clearly worse than if it was a 1080p display. But does the same apply to TVs? Thanks

Solution
If you're using no additional settings, it'll look worse. Otherwise you could use integer scaling (so it looks crisp, but still low-res) or something like NVIDIA's image upscaler.

Does integer scaling come with a big sacrifice in performance? Otherwise it defeats the purpose of me playing at less res than what my TV is capable.
