4k displayport 1.2 to 4k HDMI 2.0 tv

If the issue is only with bandwidth, namely 8gbit for HDMI 1.4, then wouldn't a 4k signal from displayport 1.2 to a 4k tv equipped with HDMI 2.0 be ok with a standard adapter, since cables have no limitations, apparently? Has anyone tried this with a 4k HDMI 2.0 TV and achieved 60hz?

A DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 adapter should work just fine and will support 4K @ 60Hz. Just make sure you use a certified HDMI 2.0 cable as well. Both the adapter and cable can be purchased on Amazon now. Also, I recommend you verify the HDMI 2.0 port is configured for 2.0 and not 1.4b within the TV settings menu.

Apparently, aside from quality, all HDMI cables carry both version's of the signal, accept HDMI cables that upscale for the few 4k TV's that don't upscale (folk claiming they sell HDMI 2.0 cables are con merchant's). There is also no such thing as a displayport to HDMI 2.0 adapter, which is why I was asking, has anybody tried Displayport 1.2 4k to HDMI 2.0 4k tv

I tried like months ago for like a week, it most certainly does not work for 4k@60Hz, so I got a TV with built in DP instead. But I hear and saw a thread that there will be a new adapter coming out for that soon, I'm not sure when, but I think in a few weeks.

You are correct. Currently, the DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapters only support up to 4K @ 30Hz. What graphics card do you have? If you have one of the latest Nvidia cards, they come with an HDMI 2.0 port that fully supports 4K @ 60Hz. I know the GTX970 and GTX980 both support it. That means no converter cables would be required.

I first tried the naïve approach with a passive Moshi 4k DP to HDMI adapter from an AMD FirePro workstation to LG49UB820v but it does not work. It's from a chinese website so it might not do what it says, however it is VERY specific on the specs so it might work. Why don't you order one and let us know

It's not that cheap but I guess worth a try with the lame duck LG on my desk. I checked with Alexander Wong at Accell tech support whether this adapter is in fact their upcoming product but he denied it is. I'll post back on my findings shortly

That adapter you linked is still only HDMI 1.4 so the best it can do is 4k/30 which is the same as all the other cables. The DP 1.2/1.3 to HDMI 2.0 does not exist in the consumer market, it may be sitting in a lab somewhere but its not for sale yet. Every other cable that says it is 4k compatible is once again only 4k/30, believe me when a active 4k/60 adapter hits it will be real easy to tell.

Well I took the leap and purchased displayport to HDMI 4K@60HZ ADAPTER from uptab.com and final I can run all 3 50"TV @ 4k at UHD 4096x2160 at 60Hz. I have 2x GTX980ti. Mostly I play ProjectCARS and it's awesome

I bought the adapter and it does support 4k @60hz but only at 4:2:0 not the full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling.

The UPTAB adapter works with my Nvidia Quadro with a 4K Vizio. Works great at 60hz. I bought the adapter and paired it with a 3D/4K certified HDMI cable from bestbuy. All is well

What I did find out on Tuesday afternoon was that LG is now selling three different size models of LED Displays that are 4K (2160p) capable and have a Display Port Input and Output (LG Models 49UH5B-B (49" Class),55UHB-B (55" Class) and 65UH5B-B (65" Class). See my requirement was for a 4K LED Display that would hook to my NVIDIA K4200 Graphics via either of the Display Port v1.2 outputs. I also had the requirement that the display weight be no more then 50lbs as the wall it will hang on won't support more then probably about 60lbs. My task now is to check with LG to see what the refresh rate is and also to make sure the Display Port is v1.2 and hopefully supports 60Hz.

1) it sounds correct. but doesnt work.
1a) dp and hdmi both look for a handshake but since they speak different languages it isn't there.
1b) so we are still waiting for a active dp/mini dp to hdmi 2.0 adapter.
1c) accell and club-3d both say an adapter is coming before end of year.

2) technically there is no hdmi 2.0 rated/marketed cable, BUT
2a) current "high speed" rated cables are only 10Gbps
2b) 4k 60hz needs a 18Gbps or faster rated cable
2c) monoprice has affordable 18Gbps cables. or monster sells 27Gbps cables

the dp and mini dp adapters from uptab do work, according to multiple forums/threads i am on. they are also the same product as the allreli brand on amazon, but the amazon ones are A LOT LESS.

the weird thing is the mini dp version on amazon stopped selling a 4k 60hz version. check out reviews, early reviews said it did work. and newer reviews state the latest model no longer works. i also got secondary confirmation on another forum about that fact that they must have changed the model a bit and it no longer works.

I ordered and can confirm 4K60 with this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZA067MA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00) adapter and an HDMI 2.0 cable to connect a GTX760 to a M43-C1.

BUT!! with certain limitations:

- Max 8bpc color depth
- Limited dynamic range (16-235) can't do full (0-255)
- No RGB, 4:4:4 or 4:2:2. I can only run 4:2:0.

So, it's trade off... For video/photo/color/etc work it's probably no good, for general work it's just fine, and for gaming it's personal preference. I'd rather have 4k60 with limited colors than 4k30 with full colors. Once I upgrade to a true 4k GPU (Pascal) it should be all sorted out.
