Looking at building something capable of handling 4K smoothly on the timeline in premiere, photoshop (24mp), illustrator etc.

I won't play any games on it, would like it to have some longevity

Here's what I came up with but I don't really know what i'm doing, it'll be my first build. If someone could look over it for me that'd be great.

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor
be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler
ASRock X570 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL20 Memory
Crucial MX500 500 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
1TB HDD
Asus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB TUF GAMING OC Video Card
NZXT H510i ATX Mid Tower Case

Am I better off building something around a 10th gen intel processor?

UK based

Thanks,

Enzo

Sweet, should I prioritise CL or frequency? I don't understand what they mean

something like this?
Yes, something like this!

Here some information about cl or frequency:
"While a RAM’s data transfer rate tells you how many mega transfers (1,000,000 data transfers) the RAM can do in one second (a DDR4-3200 RAM can conduct 3,200 mega transfers in 1 second), its CAS latency is also important for understanding RAM performance.

CAS latency tells you the total number of cycles it takes for the RAM to send data, but you should also consider the duration of each cycle to get a better idea of that RAM’s overall...
As the main OS/boot drive, I'd ask you to get something like a Samsung 970 Evo Plus or something on the M.2 PCIe 4.0 side. You can have a secondary SSD as a scratch disk. The build as is, looks good but I'd have built it in an matx or mitx form factor since I lie to use a minimal form factor.

Also, that GPU would need to be bumped up to something higher, like an RTX 2060 at the very least. You forgot to mention the make and model of the PSU.

get a good PSU for such a system, like Silverstone ST65F-GS, a better card (MSi RTX 2060 Super Ventus XS OC for example), ssd is ok but a 970 EVO could benefit on editing (you dont want a laggy stuttering editing right?), also 2TB HDD (WD Blue is fine) for storage (you might need more in the upcoming future)

I completely forgot to include a PSU lol, what wattage/model would you recommend? Stuttering video is what I absolutely do not want, i'd like to get the fastest possible just don't understand the model names, 970 EVO best?

Can upgrade to an RTX 2060, any specific models that are good?

@Lutfij I'd love to build it in a smaller case but as it's my first build I'm not sure I'd be capable lol, how difficult d'you think i'd find it?

If you're going to do that, you might as well go full 4th gen PCI-E and get something like a Sabrent Rocket or Corsair MP600. The X570 chipset takes advantage of the high speeds offered by the 4th gen NVMe drives and would be a significant advantage in video / photo editing.

Also, I would not purchase a Silverstone PSU. Get something like a Seasonic Prime or Corsair RMx.

WHy Custom Build? Why Not iMac?

Mac's are sexy but I feel like I'd have to get something much more expensive to be able to do what a custom build will do for the same price

It's nice being able to upgrade things bit by bit too, rather than having to shell out for a whole new computer

@g-unit1111 Thanks, I've added a corsair MP600 to my build, what wattage should I look at for the PSU? 650?

Yes, good choice. I have the Sabrent Rocket but it's sitting on my desk while I am waiting for my new motherboard to come in.

As for the PSU I would definitely say 650 to 750 would be ideal, you don't need anything more or less. As far as brands go, Seasonic Prime, EVGA G2/G3 and Corsair RMx are usually my go to PSUs.

WHy Custom Build? Why Not iMac?

Only if you want to pay double or triple the price for the equivalent of what you could build yourself.

If you can upgrade your ram to 32 cl16 it would be better option.
You will get 2060 or 2060 super?
If you take 2060/2060s with this system, a quality 550w will be more than enough.
You can look for this 550w psu:

While DDR4 RAM is newer with better storage density and power efficiency than DDR3 RAM, it tends to have higher CAS latency. DDR3 RAM usually has a CAS latency of 9 or 10, while DDR4 will have a CAS latency of at least 15. However, because of its faster clock speeds, the newer standard has better performance overall".
