Is anyone willing to help me out, i want to build a 4K gaming rig that can run battlefield 4 on ultra with 60 fps, anyone who has built a rig thats appropriate?

Thanks

It will be a normal gaming rig except you will need a high end GPU, so at least a GTX970 although there was a review on here recently I bieliev that had a comparison between the R9 290, GTX 970, and the GTX 980 and the 980blew everything away when it came to 4k. What kind of budget are looking at?

See http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-295x2-crossfire-performance,3808-4.html

You need 2 x R9 295X2's in Xfire. Or maybe 4 x gtx980's might be better. Apparently they scale well.

To do that you need a mess of pcie lanes. So X99 and an i7 5930k

Something like -

CPU: Intel Core i7-5930K 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($549.97 @ Directron)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($79.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme11 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($645.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($149.99 @ B&H)
Storage: Seagate 4TB 3.5" 5900RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($169.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 4GB Twin Frozr Video Card (4-Way SLI) ($579.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 4GB Twin Frozr Video Card (4-Way SLI) ($579.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 4GB Twin Frozr Video Card (4-Way SLI) ($579.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 4GB Twin Frozr Video Card (4-Way SLI) ($579.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 900D ATX Full Tower Case ($259.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: SeaSonic X Series 1250W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($218.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Optical Drive: Asus BW-16D1HT Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro (OEM) (64-bit) ($128.98 @ OutletPC)
Wireless Network Adapter: Asus PCE-N53 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($24.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $4613.83

Hey my budget is about $2250-2500 NZD including monitor
Thanks

That maybe so but there is also no need for 4 gtx980s to run a single 4k monitor... thats a waste of $1000-1500. I am asking for help so i do appreciate it but im looking for something reasonable. If a single gtx 980 can max a 1660 monitor with 4xMSAA on Arkham Origins at 80fps i doubt it highly that it could not make atleast 60 fps on 1440. But thank you.

Why not? He could get away with a i7-4790k with a z97 board and crossfire two 295x or sli 980's. That should play at around 60fps considering the Sapphire test they did on here not too long ago showed a single 980 around 40-50 fps by itself. I realize it may bottleneck it if it has to throttle down to run in an 8x lane but it still should be enough to get him to 60 fps no?

4K is 4096x2160.... i know that, but 4 gtx 980s is definately not needed.... especially when some reviews i have seen say that the gtx 980 outperforms 290x2, definately no need for more than 2-3

Ok I gotchya now. Great article btw. I see itnow like the light at the end of a tunnel. Crossfire 2 295x2 which are already 800 bucks so almost $1700 strictly for the GPU's and that budget is blown away especially if its NZD. Thanks i7 always nice to see where I went wrong.

I honestly believe after watching this video and seeing other benchmarks of the 980 with two-way SLI at 4k resolution that you could achieve 60 fps easily enough in Battlefield 4. Also, having 4xMSAA at 4k resolution seems completely pointless to me so if you were to lower AA on BF4 and play at 4k with ultra settings (besides AA) and then you'd be running it at a good deal higher than 60. Take a look at this video (note that 4xMSAA is enabled):

I really think that video is 100% for real and not a scam. What would be the purpose of that? Anyways, since that YouTube video cannot be completely trusted as a legit source, I have a different video in which most people who are into computer tech have probably run into this channel a time are two. It shows that two 980's in SLI outperform the 295X2 in every single 4k benchmark. It also specifically shows Battlefield 4 (ultra) with a higher average than 60 with the 295X2 trailing in the 50's.

You're going to want a pair of 980's in SLI to run BF4 at 4k resolution Koenigsegg16. It'll cost you slightly more to pick up two 980's but I think it'll be worth it.

2 x 980's would out perform one R9 295X2 (=2 x R9 290Xs)

The link I posted shows results from 2 x R9 295X2's in XFire. You'd need at least 3 x 980's to have that amount of graphical power. Either way, it's like $1500US of graphics fire power. Much more than I'm willing to spend.

I'd be happy with 2 x 970's and a 27in 1440p monitor. But I'm only dreaming till I find that pot o gold. Damn Leprachauns!

Sorry i7Baby, I didn't look closely enough. I was pointing out that two 980's would be better suited for 4k gaming than one R9 295X2. Two 980's in SLI are certainly enough for 4k gaming though and most specifically to Koenigsegg16's needs (Battlefield 4, Ultra, 4k, 60 fps). The price of one R9 295X2 is about the same as the price of two 980's and the 980's will offer better performance so that's probably the best route for Koenigsegg16 to go.

Yes indeed but two 295's would be rather expensive compared to two 980's which offer exactly the performance that Koenigsegg16 needs. 60 fps and higher is what two 980's will offer and for the price of $1,100 or so. Two 295's will cost around $1,600 from the prices I've seen online. I haven't checked PC Part Picker. I'm not so sure an extra 20 frames per second will justify a $500 price increase.
