4K in Older Games?

Hey all,

So I'm considering upgrading from a 1080p to 4K monitor. Assuming I have the power to run games at 4K (which shouldn't be an issue with older titles)... will I be able to run them in 4K, and will I notice a legitimate graphical improvement over the standard 1080p? When I say older games I'm thinking games like:

Mass Effect series (particularly 1 & 2)
Deus Ex Redux
System Shock 2
Star Wars KOTOR
Age of Empires II (HD REmastered edition)
+ any a number of other titles from 2007-2012?

Thank you for any insights you can provide!

Some games look "better" at 4k, like AOE 2, But the games won't actually run at 4k, they'll just be bigger on your screen.

If a game like AOE2 actually ran at 4k, everything would be extremely small, as it's all pixel graphics, so suddenly your villagers are gonna be impossible to see because they have a set number of pixels they take up.

Kotor's UI also wouldn't scale properly as it's made out of fixed pixels as well.
