this happens i noticed during game play, just a second at random times, just enough to distract me ,and makes for terrible game play.
have asus 4k monitor with display port at 60 hz. i do have framps which monitors framerate it does show up to 91 fps which i get good performance.
i am running safire vapor 290, with 8gb of memory . single card , i know that 4k puts demand on card , perhaps another card . but i am not ready to spend another 500 + on card yet , would like to know what the issue is .have contacted asus . about issue no response , now before the asus i was using seiki 4k , which i had absolutely no issues , just that it would not give 4k at 60hz rather i would get 2k at 6o hz which was very good and i payed about half the cost of the asus , i enjoyed the 39 inch as well. rather disappointed so far just trying to get 4k at 60hz and feel that i am almost there . if i can over come this glitch i will be there .

i notice a few times the card will heat up .during 4k game play .. and i do over clock the graphic card just a little . i don't temper with voltage .when i do i get good performance . but i will get black out,s . so do you think it is a heat issue . 290,s are well know for heat . and this only happens with display port .which when i remove connection and place back . i do feel heat on end .

can you be of help, presently using dvi to hdmi 2.no issues ,hdmi to hdmi no issues just display port on 4k at 60 hz, so do i have a bad card or is 4k too much and in need of second .perhaps monitor and card not in sync ,and in need of free sync, my opportunity to return is diminishing.

Unofrunately, I think I can't help you any further, my card had this kind of issue wiuth HDMI to HDMI connection so I don't know about DP 4K. Manufacturer should take it if it's faulty though (and it seems to be).

i did download latest driver , and i switched back to display port , played cod AW. for 3 games . and no black out , so i bit more confused after 2 months of steady black outs . but my game is fast player moves bit too fast and so do other players , point were hard to aim so game play did not improve , less smooth . gpu still heats up i had to go to after burner to select manual fans at 90% to maintain teps at 54C . so wondering perhaps crossfire is needed for 4k gaming , to take stress off single card . i have feeling it cant keep up alone . but will play again in morning to confirm ,

I had this issue with my surface pro 3 not while gaming but working and i noticed changing where my monitor was plugged in (power plug in different rooms) changed the frequency (even to none) of those black outs
