Hi folks

I've recently bought a fairly inexpensive 4k monitor for photo editing / video work as I shoot a lot of 4k video and can't see the quality of it while editing.

I don't intend to use this system for uber gaming (I have another rig for that) though it would be nice to do some medium level setting gaming if I choose to.

I'm looking for advice on what GFX card I should go for, bearing in mind it's high res (4k) but not gaming. I was looking towards a single Geforce 980 but would ideally spend a little less. What would you all suggest?

for 1080 or 1440 gaming, a 970 is a good bet on the nvidia side. a 980 isnt that great anymore in price to performance with the 980ti out there. if you intend to game at 4k, well then i guess a 980 will work, but you'd be better off moving up to a 980ti. a little more money, but a lot more performance.

Thanks cosmo. I'm probably not bothered about gaming in 4k at all really - I assumed I can just knock my resolution down and it will look ok on the screen. The 980ti is about £530 in the UK vs about £360 so it's a massive price increase. My main focus will be for video and photo editing.
