4K monitor question

I recently got a monitor that has 3840x2160 pixels, but it turns out my GPU, which is a GT 620, can't handle that kind of resolution, but my CPU, which is an Intel i7 4770, can.
what I want to know is, is my CPU equal to or better than my GPU in terms of gaming. I usually play such games as League of Legends and Civilization 5. Also, will using the CPU instead of the GPU reduce the expected life.

Using your cau as your graphics card will increase the heat but the lifetime is almost the same. Your cpu graphics should be better than the graphics card you have right now because of the resolution support, but it will bring a lot of load.
