I have a Nvidia quadro 4000 video card. The first Display port of the card is connected to a HP Z-display (supports 4K res) with display port direct cable and it can achieve 4k resolutions.
The second display port of the crd is connected to a LG 55-in 4k capable monitor with the following connection:
Display port of video card -> display port to DVI adapter -> DVI to HDMI cable -> HDMI Input of TV
However, I get only 1080P resolution on the TV.
It appears that although the TV is connected to display port, the video card detects that the TV is connected over the DVI connection and therefore no 4k (4k on this video card is only on display port).
Should this work or should I be using a display port to HDMI cable to TV?

Solution
I may be wrong, but i dont believe DVI can do higher than 1080p@60hz. I believe DL-DVI can do better. Also your going through to many adapters Probably confusing the PC (try DP to HDMI). Either way. HDMI connection will max out at 30hz @4k. Just remember that as soon as you put a Display port signal into any adapter (HDMI or DVI) then the signal is limited to the lowest bandwidth signal (DVI by the looks of it)
