so I was checking the NVidia settings for my moniter and I noticed I could change the resolution to 4k using DSR, I changed and I noticed some difference but I am wondering if this is really 4k or better graphics than the 1080p cause playing 4k on a 144hz would be very usefull, I have a BenQ XL2411 moniter

Nvidia DSR allows the GPU to render at a higher resolution and then downscale to your screen. This can be useful for making older games look better. However, doing this on newer titles will only reduce performance, so not really any reason to do it on a 144hz 1080p. (Unless you are getting like 500FPS and just want it slightly smoother)
Your monitor has 1920 pixels horizontally by 1080 vertically, a setting does not by some sort of mystical magic change the physical design of the monitor to now have 3840x2160 pixels.

If there is more then just a placebo difference then the difference is due to the way it changes some other aspect.
