[SOLVED] 4K or 1080P for CAD

Hi all

One of those questions that I cannot resolve. A monitor is essentially a grid pattern and in CAD a circle, curve or arc is really a series of straight lines, much more noticable in the days of VGA than 1080 but would a 4K monitor at 3840 x 2160 make a noticable improvement to how curves and arcs are displayed when compared to 1920 x 1080? Logic tells me it must make a difference but numbers do not always translate in user experience so anyone using a 4K monitor, are you seeing the difference?

somewhat CAD, i use fusion360. At work i have 23" 1080p monitor and at home i have a 27" 4k monitor. To tell you the truth i cant tell the difference between them, i do have to zoom in closer on the 4k than the 1080p.

All of our CAD guys at work using Solidworks, Delcam Powershape, and Siemens NX all use 1080p monitors.

I am looking at the 27" iiyama XUB2792UHSU-B1 IPS @ 75Hz or there is a BenQ very similar but @ 60Hz. Then just need a graphics card to drive it but not high frame rates as said.

That looks like I can save some more cash on this build or more likely divert it to where I will get better gains, probably a larger 1080P monitor rather than 4K and I assume this means a lesser graphics card which might be more available. Good feedback that the CAD guys are happy with HD otherwise if there were benifits I am sure they would have gone higher res.
